Music and dance

With only a recent invasion of television and the media, Nepal is still a highly communitarian society and dancing and singing is a regular occurrence during festivals and social occasions.

The best way of illustrating music and dance is simply to show a number of videos. The following can be viewed by clicking on the play button (don’t try without broadband).

This first song is called Choli Ramro and is a catchy song about beautiful clothes.

Next is a Dohori which is an improvised song between a girl and boy. Dohori are often flirtatous and sung whilst harvesting.
